Vidku startup growth, jobs, in Minneapolis
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Thanks to a funding round that generated $17 million in new investment, tech startup Vidku is growing in Minneapolis. The company, which was established at the University of Minnesota, plans to add 20 jobs.
Vidku markets a tool called Flipgrid, which allows users to create and share videos around specific topics. Flipgrid was developed by a UM professor to ask his students questions and allow them to respond via video. Flipgrid grew to other schools via licensing agreements and was made available to the general public last summer.
Vidku, which is still based at UM, needed only 17 days to close on the $17 million in funding from 80 investors.
